From London to Mongolia

  • Nanga Mai is an Italian company founded in the fall of 2015. After his studies in London, founder Peter Elser embarked for over 40 days with two friends in a charity rally, driving from London, UK to Ulan Bator, Mongolia. While driving through 4 deserts, crossing over 20 countries, shrinking Aral Sea and visiting isolated villages in Central Asia and unique vast plains in Mongolia.  This fascinating trip really changed Peter’s life and especially how he wanted to give a positive impact to the world.

Initially, after this trip Peter was supposed to move to South America and start working within Financial Services, the trip enriched him and made him decide that he wanted to share what he had learned during this journey. At age 22, he launched Nanga Mai, its mission is to produce handmade in Italy Linen Shirts for Men and Women. In fact the excellence of Made in Italy has long been a proud part of our heritage. It means superior quality and things made beautifully.

The Nanga Mai team believes it’s a lifestyle that everyone should have the opportunity to experience – the vibrant color palette that only the Italian landscape can produce, and the unmatched quality that Italian artistry has famously delivered for centuries. Hand-crafted in Italy from the finest linen, their shirt’s unique design, luxurious hand-feel and bespoke-inspired details are sure to make it the most extraordinary piece in your wardrobe.

Nanga Mai means “dream and creation” in Aboriginal. With our logo we wanted to create a shield which protected our dreams, the logo thus represents a shield with 7 stripes which corresponds to seven continents, the 3 different arrows respectively represent our planet classic elements, Air, Fire and Water..
